Round About LeRoy (Cup O’ Dirt Metric #4)

Logged my fourth ride in the 2017 Cup O’ Dirt Challenge, a 64-mile ride in and around the town of LeRoy Kansas. Strava activity here.

The route began at the city park, took me northeast into Anderson County, to the tiny village of Aliceville, and back to Leroy. After a quick refuel at Luther’s C-Store, I rode towards the southwest, and Woodson County, finding some great minimum-maintenance dirt roads along the way.

Photos from the day:

A brilliant field of prairie wildflowers.
Pausing to take in the green countryside and big blue sky.
Parking at Luther’s Smokehouse.
Is this a road? Google Maps said “no”. OpenStreetMap said “yes”. I think Google was closer to the truth, but nevertheless, I rode it.
The very best cycling roads, for those of us who love remoteness, quiet, and scenic beauty.
More scenic minimum maintenance roads in Woodson County Kansas.
Climbing into the sky…

I enjoy riding bicycles all over -- city streets, suburbia, rural roads, gravel roads, dirt roads, rail-trails, and singletrack. I love exploring the countryside and finding the interesting and historical treasures hidden in plain sight. You can follow my rides on Strava.
