Osawatomie, especially, would seem to have a lot to gain, both in terms of visitors and facilities for their citizens. There are about three families in that area who own land along the trail who oppose it. The county entered into an agreement with the trail group to replace the bridge across Indianapolis Road with a crossing. It tore the bridge down but "forgot" to carry out the crossing work.
